Backup power
Ride through load-shedding and grid faults without a diesel bill. Seamless transfer in under 20 ms keeps cold rooms, pumps and process lines running.
Off-grid & solar storage
Store daytime solar and run overnight. Thor pairs directly with new or existing PV plants — no separate inverter room.
Peak shaving
Charge when tariffs are low, discharge at peak. Cut maximum-demand charges and notified maximum demand on your Eskom or municipal account.
Grid support
Frequency response and export limiting for sites with wheeling or generation licences. Dispatchable from your control room.

A new company, built on old-fashioned accountability.
Thor was founded in 2025 by engineers who spent a decade installing other people's storage systems in South African conditions — and kept seeing the same failures: undersized cooling, mismatched inverters, and nobody to call when it tripped.
We build two products, we build them here, and we put our name on the side.

It depends on capacity, power and site works, and it's a significant capital investment — from the low millions of rands for a Thor 10 to considerably more for a multi-megawatt CES. We quote fixed-price after a site assessment, and can introduce asset-finance partners.
Thor 10: typically 10–14 weeks, most of it factory build. Thor CES: 14–20 weeks depending on size and civils. Both dates are written into the contract.
Yes. Both products AC-couple to existing PV via the integrated power conversion system, and can DC-couple on new-build plants.
Every unit ships with gas detection, aerosol suppression and, on CES, deflagration venting — certified to IEC 62619 and IEC 62933-5-2. We supply the documentation your insurer will ask for.
Thor does. All units report to our monitoring platform, and the 10-year warranty includes annual inspection. You get a named engineer, not a call centre.
